Established in 1924 as the Vitebsk Veterinary Institute, Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine is one of the country’s oldest higher educational institutions in Veterinary Medicine. Like most major educational centers in Belarus, it was affected by the war period from 1941, with all its infrastructure destroyed. However, after reopening in 1944, the institute grew and surpassed its pre-war achievements in only a few years. In 1994, it was renamed Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine. It is one of the leading institutions training agrarian specialists in the country, offering courses at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.
